Strategic Initiatives
The Strategic Planning process uses Balanced Scorecard methodology to develop strategic objectives, measures, targets, and initiatives for the chapter. Ongoing review of the BSC is conducted throughout the chapter year to review progress on initiatives and gather data on measures. Success of initiatives and progress toward measures and objectives helps to inform future initiatives and objectives.

Meeting Facilitator
At Board and Chapter meetings, use a timekeeper to ensure that meeting topics, speaker objectives, etc. can be accomplished in the given (and published) time. This will allow us to stay focused, reach objectives, and operate more efficiently.

Board Transition Process
Record retention, process documentation, term overlapping. Quarterly news blips
This initiative would be to send a quarterly 'news blips' about the chapter. The goal is to increase communication with the chapter members letting them know of recent activities and benefits of the chapter.

Member Recognition
This initiative would recognize chapter members for achievements such as PMP certification, major project achievements, new jobs and other milestones. This would provide members with a sense of accomplishment and motivation by being recognized by their peers. It would serve our objective to communicate more effectively with customers.

Website Maintenance
This initiative would be to maintain an updated and accurate website. The goal is to increase communication with the chapter members letting them know of activities and resources for the local chapter.
Attend conferences and present viable recommendations
Attend at least one of the semiannual PMI National Leadership Conferences per year and at least one Regional Conference per year.
- Fulfill our requirement to attend the PMI Leadership Conference.
- Ability to have a voice with PMI.
- Gain a better understanding of how PMI operates, their expectations and goals.
- Meet your counterparts from other chapters and obtain information on successful chapters and how they got there.
- Understand techniques that are successful at other chapters.
- Address day to day operational issues facing all of the chapters with counterparts.
- Bring new ideas back to enhance our chapter.
- Become a better leader through opportunities and education offered at the conference.
- Improve organizational skills, capabilities, awareness.

Develop Board Attendance Policy
Develop a Board Attendance Policy. This policy shall cover attendance at Board Meetings as well as regular Chapter Meetings.
The goal of this policy is to increase attendance at Board Meetings to 66% and to increase the overall Board participation in regular Chapter Meetings and other Chapter activities.
Development of this policy will reflect input from Board Members and current Chapter Members. Record retention, process documentation, term overlapping.

Public Speaking Event
On September 22, Dr. Ginger Levin will travel to Albany to present "PMI - Upstate New York Executive Symposium: The Project Management Office". We would plan this program as a lunch/afternoon session where Ginger would give a 90-minute talk on PMOs and then moderate a "roundtable" discussion afterwards. It is intended to support our strategic objectives of improving our programming and providing outreach to PM in the community. NOTE: Since Ginger is already in town, she would present "Leading Virtual Teams" at our evening chapter meeting at no cost.

Professional Development Day
The PMI Upstate NY Chapter will present Professional Development Day (PDD). The format: 4 speakers with a keynote in the morning. Facilitated break-out sessions with the speakers will allow attendees to talk with the speakers and share life lessons with each other.
Objectives/Benefits:The Professional Development Days are being held to meet the following objectives:
- Increase chapter visibility and community involvement to expand stakeholder base
- To provide current chapter members and community leaders with affordable education, training, and professional development opportunities
- To promote the project management profession by featuring speakers well-known in project management and other keynote speakers
- To disseminate project management information by featuring a vendor fair to provide organizations the opportunity to display their products and services
- To provide the opportunity for chapter members and community leaders to network
- To provide income in order to support other chapter events
- Keep the Professional Development Day event going as an annual chapter event
- Provide attendees an opportunity to earn PDUs by attending or speaking at this event

Corporate Sponsorships
This initiative would recognize corporate sponsors who contribute $250 in cash, goods or services to our Chapter with their logo and a link to their web site on our Chapter Sponsor Page.

Annual Member Customer Satisfaction Survey
The survey will gather qualitative and quantitative data from the chapter membership on their satisfaction with chapter performance including, but not limited to, topics such as: communication, chapter meetings, involvement in the community, job search assistance, PMP prep courses, speakers/presentations, etc.
Data from the survey will be used to inform the Board's activities, specifically the Strategic Planning and performance measurement process. It will allow us to measure current performance and develop future initiatives that are aligned with membership expectations.

Member Exit Surveys
This initiative will develop a survey of member satisfaction with each of the program meetings during the year. Members will be asked to complete the new survey form at the end of each meeting. The results of the survey will be used to evaluate the types of programs that members find most useful, and to evaluate the individual speakers.

Job Search Program
This initiative would provide timely information to chapter members on available job openings as well as serve as the conduit for receiving information on job openings and publicizing. This would provide members with a value added benefit to their membership and would also serve the objective of attracting and retaining members.

PMP Certification Program
Continue PMP Prep Workshops on a program basis. Currently have 14 people on waiting list. Will continue with KeyBank as the venue.

Regional speakers list
This initiative will keep a master list of speakers who have been suggested or who have volunteered themselves as presenters at PMI - UNY.
