Agile / Scrum Overview

Margo and Sharon will provide an introduction to the basic concepts of the Agile / Scrum approach for Software Development with perspectives of a ScrumMaster and of a Project Coach from KeyCorp. Topics will include:

  • What is Agile and what does it value?
  • What is Scrum? What are the Roles?
  • Agile Planning
  • Artifacts
  • Tracking Progress

Margo Acker: VP, Sr. Project Manager, PMP and CSM (Certified ScrumMaster)

Margo is a member of PMI and of the Upstate NY Chapter since 1998. She was an active board member and president of the chapter for 5 years. Margo is currently working with Sharon Ray at Key to form an Upstate New York Agile User Group.

She is a native of Woodstock, NY and an employee of Key Bank for 44 years. Margo started her career with Key on the banking side, where she was managing operational areas and credit cards. In 1983, she transitioned to the data center in Albany to implement a new deposit system which started her formal Project Management career. She has continued to manage large projects using many different waterfall methodologies. She started using Agile in the beginning of 2007 and prefers to never go back to waterfall.

Sharon Ray: Project Manager/Project Coach; MS, PMP and CSM (Certified ScrumMaster)

Sharon is a member of PMI and of the Upstate NY Chapter since 2005. She is a co-founder with Margo of the Upstate New York Agile User Group.

Sharon is a Colonie native and graduate of Siena College and RPI. She spent 7 years as a programmer at IBM's Software Manufacturing Group in Kingston, NY before returning to the Capital District. Sharon has been with Key for twelve years as a Programmer, Project Manager, Project Manager Mentor. She is currently an Agile Project Coach and is forming a Test COE for our Enterprise Technology Development group.
