Overview

As one of our Education Offerings, the Upstate New York Chapter of the Project Management Institute conducts a Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification Examination Workshop, which provides a comprehensive review of the PMBOK.

The program thoroughly covers the PMBOK Third Edition and it’s a good place to start your study. Participation in UNY PMP Prep Workshop program is not a guarantee that each student will successfully complete Project Management Professional certification. This is a REVIEW session that is not designed to "teach" attendees project management. It is designed to help attendees identify which areas they might want to focus on (if any) to prepare for the PMP examination. It is a fast-paced review of the nine (9) knowledge areas including integration that can be useful for final review or pre-study assessment.

Target Audience

Students taking this course are expected to have a solid foundation in project management, which includes knowledge of project management best practices, real-life project management experience, and previous classroom instruction in project management. In addition it is expected that each student has already accumulated the experience requirements to be eligible to take the exam. Students should be prepared to devote significant time outside of class preparing for the exam.

Opportunities to Facilitate

The chapter also invites chapter PMPs to volunteer to facilitate workshop sessions. Facilitating a workshop session will earn the PMP 10 PDUs towards recertification. Facilitators will be expected to present the workshop materials, facilitate discussions, and offer their own experiences as PMPs.
