Spring 2010 PMP Prep Workshop
Are you interested in getting PMP certified?
Registration is now open for the Spring 2010 PMP Prep Workshop. This program is offered by the Upstate New York PMI Chapter and is open to anyone interested in preparing for the PMP exam. This is a fast-paced review of the entire PMBOK v4 contents, including all of the knowledge areas covered by the PMP Certification exam.
Participation in UNY PMP Prep Workshop program is not a guarantee that you will successfully complete the Project Management Professional certification exam. This is a REVIEW session that is not designed to "teach" project management. Students should plan to spend 100-150 additional hours outside of class to complete their study, depending on their level of experience with a formal PM methodology.
Students taking this course are expected to have a solid foundation in project management, which includes knowledge of project management best practices, real-life project management experience, and previous classroom instruction in project management. In addition it is expected that each student has already accumulated the experience requirements and most of the educational requirements to be eligible to take the exam. Students should be prepared to devote significant time outside of class preparing for the exam.
We will be using a new set of instructor materials that has been completely updated based on version 4 of the PMBOK. This new material was developed by the Delaware PMI Chapter, in conjunction with Villanova University.
Classes are being scheduled for Wednesday evenings, from 6:00 - 9:00 pm for eleven weeks. The program will start on Wed, March 17th and will run through Wed June 9th. To avoid potential conflicts, we will not have class on the Wednesday during school break (April 7th) and the Wednesday of our Chapter "member appreciation night" (April 21st) meeting.
The cost of the program is $350 for Chapter members and $500 for non-Chapter members. While the cost of materials has increased significantly, the Board has agreed to keep the cost of the workshop the same as last year. The course fee will include a bound student workbook that includes a copy of the slides. This material is copyrighted, so we’ll ask that you keep this book for yourselves and not make copies of it for others. Each student will also receive a copy of the most recent Rita Mulcahy’s PMP Exam Prep Guide book which covers the revised PMBOK material. The actual PMBOK will not be provided as this is available to members from the PMI website.
While attendance at all the sessions is not required, attending all eleven sessions will give students 33 of the 35 hours of professional development required to take the Exam. Chapter PMPs have volunteered to facilitate the sessions, offering first hand exam knowledge as well as their valuable experience as project managers in local organizations.
Registration will be on a first come basis. If you are interested, please click here to register. Registration is not final until payment is received.
