Bruce Oswald, PMP
Please join us for a joint meeting with the members of the Society for Technical Communication (STC) as Bruce Oswald entertains you while describing his fears, obstacles, and, yes, his proven keys to success for achieving project goals while working in a "collaborative" environment.
Bruce currently serves as a Project Director for the New York State Office for Technology. He is responsible for the implementation of New York's Statewide GIS Program and has recently assumed the position of Director of the newly formed NYS Center for Geographic Information. Bruce also serves as the Chair of NYS GIS Coordinating Body.
Since joining the Office for Technology in 1996, he has worked on several projects including the implementation of the NYS GIS Coordination Program. This program was developed using a collaborative approach to problem resolution and provided a full partnership between local government, State agencies and the private sector. Last month, Bruce received the Excellence in Government Services award from the NYS FORUM on Information Resource Management for his work in this area.
Bruce has also actively participated in the development of GeoData Alliance, an innovative national organization open to all individuals and institutions committed to using geographic information to improve the health of our communities, our economies and the Earth. He currently serves on its Board of Trustees. Bruce has been active in the project management field for the last several years and is certified as a Project Management Professional. He is also licensed as a Landscape Architect. He has holds bachelor degrees in Environmental Science and Landscape Architecture from the College of Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse University and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
