Annual Construction Tour
Starcher-Roth-Gilmore and Dollmer Associates were selected by the Capital District Transportation Authority to build the new train station to replace the existing one in Rensselaer. Representatives will give us a tour this large construction project and show us how they are managing:
- Construction of a new 80,000 square foot station replacing the existing 23,000 foot facility
- Development of a multiple station level facility that accommodates passengers, amenities, train operations, and Amtrak administration
- A two level parking facility that accommodates 1,100 cars, replacing the existing 640 car lot
- Existing track reconfiguration with new signal systems and by-pass
- Construction of a new covered, high level boarding platforms giving improved access to trains
- A new bridge that will span 950 feet providing direct access to the station for both cars and pedestrians
