2011 Elections
Overview
Six (6) positions on the UNY-PMI Board of Directors are becoming open effective June 1, 2011 as the two year terms of the incumbents are expiring. The terms for these openings are June 1, 2011 through May 31, 2013. This is an excellent opportunity for current members to become more active in the governance of the PMI-UNY chapter. The six positions which will be available on June 1st are:
1. Vice President of Membership
2. Vice President of Communications and Publicity
3. Vice President of Education and Certification
4. First Vice President of Programs
5. Assistant Secretary
6. Second Vice President of Facilities and Reservations.

Eligibility, Responsibilities, & PDUs
To run for a Board position, candidates must be a member in good standing of the UNY-PMI and a regular attendee of the monthly meetings. Member in good standing means you have paid your membership dues. Regular attendee means you have attended at least four (4) meetings in the last PMI year. For details, refer to the UNY-PMI bylaws. Board members are expected to attend monthly chapter meetings and monthly Board meetings. Board members receive ten (10) PDUs for serving on the Board.
Voting
Any current member is eligible to vote. After April 15th votes can only be cast at the April 20th PMI-UNY Chapter meeting.
Board Positions
Candidates do not run for a specific position on the Board. Candidates run "at large." Newly-elected Board members are appointed to specific positions on the Board by a vote of the current members of the PMI-UNY Board of Directors.

Board Roles and Responsibilities
1. Vice President of Membership
The Vice President of Membership shall be considered the Executive Vice President, and shall have all of the powers and functions of the President during the absence or disability of the President. The Vice President of Membership will be responsible for the development and maintenance of a Chapter membership plan, including recruitment and partnering with area employers, and the development and implementation of a retention program. The Vice President of Membership shall keep a membership roll containing the names, alphabetically arranged, of all persons who are members of the PMIUNY Chapter, showing their places of residence and the date when they became members.
2. Assistant Secretary
During the absence or disability of the Secretary, the Assistant Secretary shall have all of the powers and functions of the Secretary. The Assistant Secretary shall assist the Secretary in carrying out his or her duties, as required.
3. Vice President of Communications and Publicity
The Vice President of Communications and Publicity shall be responsible for the timely dissemination of information both to and from the membership. This Vice President shall also be responsible for all publicity and marketing information of the PMIUNY Chapter, and shall perform all other duties incidental to this office.
4. Vice President of Education and Certification
The Vice President of Education and Certification shall be responsible for promoting the Project Management profession through educational publications, seminars, workshops etc., and generally shall be responsible for the development of skills and knowledge of members as project managers. This Vice President shall also manage the PMIUNY's Chapter Library.
5. First Vice President of Programs
The First Vice President of Programs shall be responsible for the development and delivery of programs relating to Project Management for each membership meeting, which programs shall be consistent with the objectives of the PMIUNY Chapter, and shall be subject to Board approval. This Vice President shall also be responsible for compiling, maintaining and distributing members' and guest speakers' technical articles and oral presentations.
6. Second Vice President of Facilities and Reservations
During the absence or disability of the First Vice President of Facilities and Reservations, the Second Vice President of Facilities and Reservations shall have all of the powers and functions of the First Vice President. The Second Vice President of Facilities and Reservations shall assist the First Vice President in carrying out his or her duties, as require.
