Paul Manley was a project manager years before he realized it. You were, too. Paul understands that even though you may not have started your career as a project manager, you’ve had experiences and acquired skills that you can use to be an effective project manager. The purpose of this presentation is to share Paul’s insights gained and lessons learned over the course of his successful 30-year career. He will show you how an independent, just-do-it techie can transform into a team-oriented, process-driven project manager.

The best part: he’ll show how his project management style leverages the communication, learning and leadership theories that are vital to improving project effectiveness. Along the way, he’ll admit to (and laugh about) lessons learned the hard way.

About

Paul’s career began as a specialist installing hardware and software, configuring applications, and re-engineering business processes. He acquired valuable soft skills and insights into effective management that were put to use, ultimately transforming him into an effective and sought-after project manager and business leader. These early lessons were learned from a diverse group, including construction unions in New York City, communist labor unions in Bulgaria, and from other cultures he encountered in Paris, Cairo, Hong Kong and elsewhere.

He is a PMP certified project management consultant with 30 years experience as a user, vendor and consultant to premium clients such as Carnival Cruise Lines, Walt Disney World and Aramark.
